Crunchyroll has acquired the streaming rights for the acclaimed Vinland Saga and will simulcast the upcoming second season from Japan in January 2023 in more than 200 countries and territories. Based on the manga by Makoto Yukimura, the story follows Thorfinn joining the band of mercenaries of his father’s killer, Askeladd, who awaits his revenge as Askeladd plots politics. Here is the official synopsis of the second season:
A new millennium begins in the southern part of the Jutland peninsula in Denmark.
After the death of his longtime enemy, Askeladd, Thorfinn has lost his purpose in life.
He was bought by the landowner Ketil as a “slave” and devoted himself to the reclamation work on his farm.
Thorfinn meets there a young man, Einar, who was also a slave like him.
Meeting Einar led Thorfinn to face the sins he had committed and he began to find meaning in life.
On the other hand, Canute, who became king of England, attempted to extend his territory for the establishment of the “promised land”.
This is “The Story of a True Warrior (Saga)”.
“The story of the Atonement and Salvation (Saga)” which lies beyond the prologue.
There is a new trailer for the second season that you can check out below. It looks like a show that asks some interesting and important questions about the effects a warrior’s lifestyle can have on a person. Watch the trailer and let me know what you think, will you tune in for season 2?
