‘Black Adam’ leads the Spanish box office, which dates back thanks to superhero films

The Spanish box office closes its month of October on the rise thanks, once again, to the push of superhero films. “Black Adam,” Dwayne Johnson’s first foray into the DC Extended Universe, has been successful both in the United States and around the world. Much of the European pie went to Spain, where the film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra grossed € 2.17 million in its first weekend on the bill (October 21-23), according to Comscore data.

The Rock’s new blockbuster achieved the best average of the week, with € 3,159 per screen, coming out in 365 screens and 689 screens (by far the largest release on the bill). ‘Black Adam’ triggers the sum of the 20 most viewed films in Spain above 5 million euros (€ 5,246,188 in particular), its best figure since July, after a few months of falling of the layer oscillating between 3 and 4 million. Once again, the superhero movie returns to increase the box office. However, if we compare with the latest Marvel release in theaters, “Black Adam” is far below “Thor: Ragnarok”which opened at the beginning of July with 3.46 million euros, pushing the Top 20 towards 7 million euros.

‘Lilo, the crocodile my friend, the second largest release of the week (present on 555 screens), ranks at number 2 with a good figure, although very far from that obtained by DC, 601,300 euros, with an average of 1,083 euro screen, proving once again that family cinema is a sure value at the box office. He is followed in third place by ‘Los renglones torcidos de Dios’, who drops from first place, but continues his good run by adding € 589,862 more to his total, which now stands at 3.40 million. The Spanish film was down just 14% from the previous week. All a success.

‘Smile’ continues strong in its fourth week and is at number 4 with € 461,961 (a 23% drop), amassing a total of 4.24 million. The top 5 is closed by another horror movie, ‘Halloween: The End’, which is faring a little worse. With € 308.161, the closure of the trilogy starring Jamie Lee Curtis drops from 2 to 5, recording a sharp drop of 52%. In total, the film raised 1.13 million in our country.

‘Tadeo Jones 3: The Emerald Table’ occupies number 6, for a total of € 222,199 after 9 weeks on the bill and pulling his total of over 11 million, the best number in the Top 10. On the 7th and 8th respectively there are two other novelties, the Spanish ‘La piel del tambor’, which is satisfied with 148,138 euros on 152 screens, and the mystery ‘Look how they run’, which goes unnoticed with 121,000 €. The Top 1 is closed by ‘On the margins’, which drops from 5 to 9 in its third week, adding 93,209 euros, with which it progressively approaches the million (brings 838,772 euros) and ‘Shin Chan and the mystery of the Tenkasu Academy’, the new episode of the spiteful Japanese character, who made his debut at the age of 10 with 90,549 euros in 192 screens.

To be highlighted in positions 11 to 20 the Spanish “Model 77” in the 12th, about to reach 2 million in total (carries 1,981,875 euros), ‘Cerdita’, which appears not to live up to expectations with 278,077 euros in two weeks, and two veterans who are reluctant to leave the list, ‘Bullet Train’ (8.32 million in total ) and ‘Minions: The Origin of Gru’ (20.71 million).

Little competition for The Rock

Except for the occasional surprise, “Black Adam” will be easy to repeat at # 1 next week. From Friday 28 October they will face it, among others, the new film by Álex de la Iglesia, the road comedy ‘The fourth passenger’the animation ‘Hopper, el polloliebre’, the LGBTQ + romantic comedy ‘Bros – More than friends’ and ‘Amsterdam’, the new David O. Russell, which did not perform well at the US box office, despite a stellar cast that includes Margot Robbie, John David Washington and Christian Bale.
