HBO Max is moving forward with the producer Matt Reeves’ The Batman spin-off series that will focus on Arkham Asylum. It was announced that they hired The ladder Creator Antonio Campos to write the series, direct and serve as showrunner and executive producer.
Campos is the third screenwriter involved in the DC project since it was originally announced in July 2020. Hopefully, he’s giving the project the spark the studio and producers are looking for to bring it into production.
Terence Winter he was originally working on the project when it was on Gotham City PD. He ended up leaving due to creative differences. Giri / Haji Creator Joe Barton he got involved, but when the project moved from the police department to focus on the asylum instead, the studio and Baton split.
Reeves is the executive producer of the Arkham Asylum show and previously described it as “like a horror movie or haunted house that is Arkham”. So, it will be a lot of fun!
Campos has previously worked on programs that include USA Network’s crime anthology series The sinnerand The Punisher. He has also written and directed films such as Simone murderer, AfterschoolAnd The devil all the time. Seems like a sold choice for this one Batman series, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens and what comes out of it.
