The story of ‘The whale’ is an adaptation of Samuel D. Hunter’s play of the same name, about Charlie, a 700-pound man who wants to reconcile with his young daughter Max, with whom he has long since lost touch. Notably, the story was recorded in one place, and critics praised Fraser and Aronofsky for the film’s simplicity.
In this regard, Aronofksy said in an interview with Vanity Fair that the greatest achievement of shooting this film in one place was that it didn’t feel claustrophobic, quite the opposite. For his part, Hunter talked about what it was like to adapt his work to a film script: “This story is deeply personal. […] For me it was a real job. ”

However, there are also those who have negative comments about the film, such as Daniel Franzese, an actor who criticized Brendan Fraser for not putting an “obese and homosexual” man in his place. After passing through the Los Cabos International Festival, “The Whale” will debut in conventional theaters next December.
