But today we have to talk about “Sleepwalkers”, a dusty horror film that should not be missing among the old options for Halloween marathons or any time of the year.

Stephen King has a surprise cameo in ‘Sleepwalkers’

‘Sleepwalkers’, also known as’sleepwalkers’and’ The Curse of the Sleepwalkers’, is an American horror film released to the screen in 1992, with a script written exclusively by Stephen King for the big screen.

The management was carried out by Mike Garri and a spectacular soundtrack composed by Nicholas Pik, with a cast consisting of Brian Krause (Charles Brady), Alice Krige (Mary Brady), Mädchen Amick (Tanya Robertson), Lyman Ward (Don Roberston), Cindy Pickett (Mrs. Roberston) and Ron Perlman (Captain Ira Soames).

The plot starts from the story of Charles Brady and his mother Mary, the family has moved to an Indiana city, where they are looking for a young “virgin” to feed Mary. Both are sleepwalkers and Charles studies at the local college where he meets a beautiful young woman who takes literature lessons in her class, Tanya Robertson, who until then is unaware of her partner’s true intentions.

Tanya thinks her partner wants her, but she doesn’t know the real reason why she is so insistent: she wants to take her life force to give it to her mother. Charles ends up falling in love with his friend and they have a first date in a cemetery where he changes his appearance, from young like the others, to becoming a big anthropomorphic cat attacking his girlfriend.

Tanya manages to hit him and escape, while Charles returns home to his mother who treats him for his wound, but they begin to devise the perfect plan to take revenge on the Robertson family and unleash some kind of evil sleepwalker plague.

Although we should remember ‘Sleepwalkers’ because it is a Stephen King story, the reality is that this film did not have a good reception, indeed, its reception was poor from the specialized critics and in Rotten tomatoes, it only has 17% approval in nice comments. Some considered it a film without internal logic, without sustenance and with useless tricks to refer to monsters and cats.

The distribution and production of this horror film was in charge Columbia Picturesand while we’re realistic it was a bad movie, mostly because it’s a script developed by the master of terror, the only reason you should see them is because Stephen King himself has a cameo in “Sleepwalkers” where he appears as the keeper of the cemetery and few noticed it.

If that’s not enough, it would be worth taking a look at him and seeing how his works change over time. If you want to see it, you can see it for rent through the service of Amazon Prime video Y AppleTV.
