THE OWL HOUSE Season 3 gets off to a phenomenal start with “Thank them” given the conditions

The house of the owl is a fantastic animated series on the Disney Channel. The story, the characters and the world are a lot of fun and I’m so happy that the first of the three specials that make up the third and final season is out. Disney Channel was kind enough to share a screener with me so that I could watch and share my thoughts. You can watch the special on YouTube now and I’ve even included it below. There are a few spoilers ahead, although I’ll do my best to keep them light. You can now watch all of the first two seasons on Disney +.

I loved the first special entitled “Thanks to them”. In case you missed the reminder, Season 3 of The house of the owl was condensed into three 44-minute specials. This means that a lot of things most likely had to be cut and rushed. In “Thanks to Them”, we get an idea of ​​this because instead of the traditional opening credits we get a montage of a lot of things happening. This includes Luz declaring herself bisexual to her mother, the group cleaning up the old shack and trying to think about how to build a portal, some fashion changes, and more. I have a feeling that a lot of the elements of the editing would have been episodes if given the time.

The rest of the special has a lot of ground to cover. We all have been trying to figure out how to create a portal to the Demon Realm, Luz has to go back to school, Luz is swimming in guilt, Camilla has all these Demon Realm refugees and her daughter to care for and help out, Hunter has things that have been going on since he recently found out he is a grimwalker and more. These are all things that are addressed in 45 minutes and it seems rushed. I want to deliver it to Dana Terrace and his team though, as it is really well done, all things said. Yes, it sounds rushed and rushed, but the important plot points are done comprehensively. There are a couple of surprises scattered all over the place and some amazing moments like Camilla freaking out that Gus and Hunter find and use some sci-fi cosplays that had been hidden.

The house of the owlSeason 3 has started amazingly. I’m so sad that the season has been cut into three specials. This special had enough content to easily fill a minimum of 5 episodes and I’m sure the others will have as much. My hat goes to Terrace and his team for how well they did in “Thank Them”. Under the circumstances, this special is incredibly well done. Stop reading this and go watch the show now!
