Pending confirmation of the second part of ‘The Batman’, director Matt Reeves, who is now one of the creatives responsible for DC Films, is already preparing the future as it approaches the universe starring Robert Pattinson. And now he’s already preparing several films as spin-offs, focusing on the Dark Knight’s extensive gallery of villains.
A few weeks ago, Matt Reeves signed a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, where he would be responsible for monitoring everything that has been done regarding the DC hero franchise, but also teased that there would be. more movies and series in the universe of ‘Batman’in the future, in addition to the already popular “The Penguin” series and the Arkham Asylum series for HBO Max.
Now, according to information from The Hollywood reporter, Matt Reeves is expanding the universe of ‘Batman’, and has already met with other directors and writers to plan several films focusing on the Gotham hero’s thieves gallery. The report points out that at first they will be feature films and not series, as has recently been speculated.
The The new Batman movies would have Clayface, Scarecrow and Professor Pyg as a priority at DC Films, however, the villain list may change in the future. With this, the company tries to adapt other DC enemies who are not as popular or who have already had other appearances, such as Joker, Two-Face and even Bane.
Batman and Superman are once again a priority at DC
In the same THR report, several rumors about DC were confirmed in a conversation with Dwayne Johnson, and it is that Henry Cavill is back in the company and “Man of Steel 2” would be in the early stages of development. With this, Superman and Batman are once again a priority for the company, as they mentioned in the merger of Warner Bros and Discovery.
Additionally, it has been confirmed that James Gunn has two mysterious DC-related projects, while rumor has it that they already have the script for “The Flash 2”, though it was not mentioned whether Ezra Miller would be on board the production. Things at DC seemed to be in turmoil for the past few months, but now the direction of the company is clear for the first time in some time.
It is worth mentioning that Matt Reeves would not be the director of each of the “The Batman” spin-offs, and would only focus on the main films. And although the existence of the sequel has not been confirmed, it will be a matter of time to know more details of the next time Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farell and Paul Dano return to Gotham City.
