
Disney studios are working on a new live sci-fi fantasy adventure film titled 1001 nightsinspired by the classic collection of Middle Eastern folk tales, A thousand and one nightsalias Arabian nights. The project was written and produced by Arash Amelwho recently wrote a well-received Disney + movie Climbon NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Plot details are kept under wraps, but Deadline reports that this will be an original version taken from ancient folk tales and will be a standalone IP, unrelated to any existing Disney property like theirs. Aladdin franchising. “Aladdin’s Wonderful Lamp” is one of the stories contained in the Arabian Nights collection, along with other famous shops such as “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves” and “The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor”. The work has been collected over many centuries by various authors, translators and scholars from Western, Central and Southern Asia and North Africa. Some of the stories, including Aladdinthey were added in later editions.
It looks like this could be a fun and interesting project for Disney to expand on.
