In recent years, Disney has worked to remedy some mistakes it had in the past, in particular those that the animated classics for children have shown to the older generations and that, either opened the doors or, failing that, reinforced some stigmas and stereotypes that he doesn’t want to happen with his new wave of live action preparing for these stories that many of us have grown up with, even if it means losing some of his loyal audience.

It is true that any company’s live action hasn’t quite convinced the public because they expect faithful versions of the classics they already know, but this hasn’t been a hindrance for the mouse company that is progressing smoothly in its future projects. One of them is’Peter Pan and Wendy’, a human version adaptation that we will know in a couple of years in which actress Yara Shahidi will play the role of Tinker Bell.

And what do you think? Clearly this has generated quite a bit of controversy. Although this is not recent news, on social networks they have been tasked with reviving and recriminating Disney’s decision because Yara Shahidi is the one who gives life to Tinker Bell, the famous green fairy of ‘Peter Pan’a classic character from the story and animated version that many generations have grown up with associating his distinctive skin color and yellow hair, a fantasy character after all.

In the upcoming live-action remake that Disney is preparing, Yara will wield magic dust to make fantasy possible for the first time as Tinker Bell, something many aren’t confirmed with just because of the color of her skin. A similar situation to the one that Halle Bailey has experienced since she was cast to play Ariel in the live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid”.

Yara Shahidi is Tinker Bell on Disney’s inclusion list

in 2020 Deadline reported that Shahidi’s choice to play Tinker Bell was due to the fact that the studio and Lowery were looking for different talent from the start and planning of the film, and that’s how they sought her out to have her in the main cast. Two years later, there aren’t enough details on the production, but it is speculated that this adaptation will be based on the OG 1953 animated film.

“Peter Pan and Wendy” by David Lowerywill bring together Yara Shahidi, the cast consisting of Jude Law, Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson. The sources had indicated that the launch of this production could be theatrical, but the latest details suggest that the film could be aimed at broadcasting on the streaming platform of the same house, Disney +.

Other of the latest purchases that Disney made and were controversial even without having been released on screen, it was not only that of Yara, but that of Rachel Zegler as Snow White for the live-action remake of “Snow White” which will be will be released in theaters until 2024, Halle Bailey in the role of Ariel in the adaptation of “The Little Mermaid” and the Blue Fairy of “Pinocchio” played by Cynthia Erivo, all accused of false and unnecessary forced inclusion by Disney.

In the case of the American actress Yara Shahidi, who will be Little bell, a fantasy character based on animated classics, we have not yet previewed what it would be like, the really bad thing is the rejection comments that Internet users make. However, she has the support of Oprah Winfrey, who said she hopes to live long enough to see the actress become president.
