Halloween: How to Watch the Entire Michael Myers Saga in Chronological Order – Broadcast (Dimension Films)

The Halloween horror saga that began in 1978 at the hands of John Carpenter and which was a critically acclaimed success, will conclude on October 14, 2022 with “Halloween: ends”. The franchise includes 13 films, which are articulated multiple timelinesthat you should keep in mind to see this latest movie.

Chronology n. 1

  • Halloween (1978)
  • Halloween II (1981)
  • Halloween 4: Return of Michael Myers (1988)
  • Halloween 5: Michael Myers’ Revenge (1989)
  • Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (Halloween 6) (1995)

The most important and vital film of the entire saga is ‘Halloween’, released in theaters in 1978 under the direction of John Carpenter. The film first introduces Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. Halloween begins in 1963 by recounting the origins of Michael Myers who killed his sister when he was only six years old. Fifteen years later, Michael escapes from prison and a killing spree begins.

The first film ends with the character of Doctor Loomis shooting Michael Myers, but ends up running away. ‘Halloween II’ (1981) begins after the first of her with Laurie Strode in the hospital for her injuries, while Michael Myers continues to try to hunt her down. In turn, Dr. Loomis will try to stop him before he continues to commit his crimes.

The second part was a success, but the third had a twist where Michael Myers did not appear, as the producers thought the saga could be an anthology of independent stories. In “Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers” (1988), the fearsome killer returns to the screen to kill his niece Jamie Lloyd, with Laurie dead in an accident.

In “Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers” (1989) we have a direct continuation, where we see his granddaughter and Loomis again, now with an unexpected twist where the supernatural plays a role, since Michael and his granddaughter have a psychic connection, and we learn that Myers is controlled by a satanic cult.

“Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers” would tell the end of the saga of this first timeline. In this sixth and final film, Michael escapes again, but now he will try to kill Laurie Strode’s cousins, his last relatives, while Dr. Loomis tries to stop him again. This tape closes all the arcs of the first timeline.

Timeline # 2

  • Halloween (1978)
  • Halloween II (1981)
  • Halloween: H20. Twenty Years Later (1998)
  • Halloween: Resurrection (2002)

After the box office failure of “Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers”, the saga has decided to bring Jamie Lee Curtis back as Laurie Strode. So, “Halloween: H20” is a continuation of “Halloween” (1978) and “Halloween II” (1981) by eliminating its four sequels. In this reboot, Laurie has post-traumatic stress disorder from the events of the two previous films.

For “Halloween: H20” Michael Myers will escape from prison again with one goal, to kill Laurie. Four years later, Michael Myers would return with “Halloween: Resurrection”. Unlike the previous film, “Resurrection” would have had Jamie Lee Curtis in a supporting role. The tape was a complete failure, so it was decided to restart the saga.

Chronology n. 3:

  • Halloween, the origin (2007)
  • Halloween II (2009)

In 2007 Rob Zombie tried to start Halloween from scratch. The singer-director embarked on the adventure of writing and directing a reboot, even as he reinvented John Carpenter’s original story himself. The film told, once again, the story of Michael Myers escaping from prison and trying to assassinate the character of Laurie Strode.

Specifically, Zombie tried to move away from the 1978 film by developing a remake that served as an origin story for Michael Myers. The tape was a box office success, despite the fact that fans of the saga did not like it. For this Rob Zombie is back with ‘Halloween II’ (2009), a direct sequel in which the events of the previous film continued two years later.

Timeline # 4

  • Halloween (1978)
  • Halloween (2018)
  • Halloween kills (2021)
  • Halloween: Ends (2022)

“Halloween” (2018) continues the story of “Halloween” (1978), ignoring the events of all previous films. Those responsible for this new trilogy would be David Gordon Green Y Danny McBride, who also deal with “Halloween: Ends” with the collaboration of Carpenter himself. The film brings Jamie Lee Curtis back as Laurie Strode.

On this occasion, Strode is a grandmother with post-traumatic stress due to the events of “Halloween” (1978), who prepared her whole life for the return of Michael Myers. Meanwhile, the latter continues his killing spree in Haddonfield. However, this time Laurie will be accompanied by her daughter and her granddaughter, Karen and Allyson.

Given the success of ‘Halloween’ (2018), which for many Halloween fans is the best sequel to the saga, the production company blue house has given the green light to the following. Unlike the previous film in “Halloween Kills” (2021), Laurie has a more secondary role. The film was criticized for being just a prelude to the end of the saga.

Now “Halloween: Ends” will premiere next October 4, 2022, and it will be the final round of the confrontation between Michael Myers and Laurie Strode in the cursed town of Haddonfield. Set 4 years after its predecessor, the film promises to be the end of the endings for the characters and their story, at least by blue house.
