Tara Reid begins the campaign for a sequel to JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS

The 2001 film Josie and the Pussycats has gained a rather large cult following over the years. I remember seeing the film when it was first released, my friends and I were at Universal City Walk and there was an event where the cast of the film, Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid, And Rosario Dawson they were signing autographs for fans.

I thought the movie was a lot of fun! I showed it to my kids for the first time a few years ago and they enjoyed it too. I always thought it would be fun to revisit these characters after all these years, and even though there has been talk of a sequel in the past, nothing has happened.

Now, Tara Reid is campaigning for a sequel and trying to get the conversation started again. She shared a video on Twitter simply asking who would like to see a sequel to the film and received a lot of positive responses. You can check out that video below:

Not long after Tara Reid released that sequel video, co-star Rosario Dawson responded on Twitter with a “Yes! Let’s get the band back together!” Which has certainly increased the enthusiasm of the fans. I mean, who knows if there’s ever going to be a sequel, but starting a conversation doesn’t hurt.

Speaking earlier about what a sequel might look like, during the film’s 20th anniversary, some cast and crew members talked about what they envision for a sequel. Dawson told CB:

“Lot of [the movie] it was about the artists, and it was about the industry, about the different actors they are in, and looking at the masses, how they reacted. It would be interesting to see how much everyone has gotten smarter from a consumer perspective than what’s going on and perhaps focus them more in the conversation. [in a sequel]. This is what is happening with the Free Britney movement; you can’t just say that the media has the right to do something, because people will consume it. Now the consumer is saying, ‘We don’t want this. We want better. ‘ So what does he do? Maybe something like this could be really interesting … I think it would be interesting to see what the world looks like 20 years later these girls are inhabiting. “

Co-star Alan Cumming She said:

“I’m actually really intrigued by the idea of going back to things 20 years later, 25 years later. I think it would be fun to do it. It would be hilarious to parody that the film didn’t find its audience first time, and maybe they should do it. again with the girls of the age they are now. I think there’s something there. There’s something funny about the fact that she didn’t find her audience, and so now they’re having another go there. “

Co-star Paolo Costanzowho played Alessandro, She said:

“What I wish Alexander would do? I don’t know. I wish he would still try to be a manager, unsuccessfully, but act like he was successful – you know, hiding the fact that he’s in a tough situation. Little shitty office somewhere . And I wish Josie would like to come back and enlist him, and he would pretend, ‘Well, I’m not sure I need it right now because I’m very successful … yes, I will. I will.’ “

Missi Pyle, who played Alexandra, said:

“I’d like to go back … It would be fun to do it, especially at this age. It’s been 20 years. Where’s Josie now? … I think the Pussycats should still be. Who doesn’t Want to see 40-year-old Josie and the Pussycats ? That would be really fun! Why are they still trying? “

A few years ago there was a spin-off movie that would focus on the boy band DuJour, which consisted of Donald Faison, Alexander Martin, Seth Green, And Breckin Meyer. The project was presented to Netflix and would focus on the band embarking on a reunion tour 20 years later. Nothing ever happened with that, though. It could have been fun!

Either way, you would like to see a Josie and the Pussycats Continuation? If so, what kind of story would you like to see?
