Blumhouse e Todd McFarlane they are still trying to get the long awaited one To produce film made and have just hired a team of new screenwriters to work on the script.
Includes the new team of writers Scott Silver (Joker), Malcolm Spellman (Falcon and the Winter SoldierCaptain America: New World Order) and the rising scribe Matt Mixon. This is a pretty strong team of writing talent.
It was also revealed that Jamie Foxx is still assigned to star in the film as Spawn. As for Jeremy Renner’s involvement as Twitch, he’ll be determined based on how things come together with the new draft of the script.
McFarlane tried to direct the film and wrote an earlier draft of the script. But he also acknowledges that he may not be the right person to direct the film by saying:
“If we have an A-list actor, A-series producers, A-series writers, then do you want to shoot for A-series directors, A-series filmmakers? The answer is ‘of course’. Let’s keep the momentum going. “
Does this make sense! Even though I know McFarlane really wants to direct this film, chances are there is a super talented director who will be much better suited to tackle it and bring this story to life. It’s nice to see McFarlane recognize him.
Spellman shared in a statement: “I grew up in Berkeley, which is a city of comics. Todd McFarlane’s SPAWN character has always been a favorite of mine – a black superhero who wasn’t bullshit, was likable, and dealt with modern matters. Myself, Matt Mixon and Scott Silver are committed to honoring what Todd started and what SPAWN is at its core, delivering something relevant and edgy and unlike any other superhero movie out there.
In the comics, Spawn is a former black operations agent who makes a deal with a demon after being betrayed and killed. The demon allows him to return to Earth, but when he returns, five years have passed, his wife has moved on and he wanders the Earth like a disfigured spawn of hell.
McFarlane has a good vision for this film and I hope someday it actually gets made. As a longtime fan of To produceI would like to see this film made!
