On October 13, ‘The Watcher’ will be released, the new miniseries by Ryan Murphy, who recently surprised everyone with the unexpected success of ‘Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’. Now, he’s back to present his next psychological thriller, based on a true case of a man who has watched over a family’s home for decades.
In the past Tudum event, Netflix revealed ‘The observer’, a psychological thriller created by Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) and Ian Brennan, who tells the story of the Brannock family, consisting of Nora and Dean, and their children, played by Bobby Cannavale and Naomi Watts. In addition, the rest of the cast also includes Mia Farrow, Jennifer Collidge of “The White Lotus”, among others.
The story of ‘The observer’ is based on the true case of the Broaddus family, who were harassed by a man who sent them letters and was called “El Vigilante”. This guy kept an eye on the house these new tenants bought decades ago, but after the old owners left, he was anxious for new blood to enter the building.

It all happened at 657 Boulevard, Westfield, New Jersey, in 2014 Derek and Maria Broaddus, who changed their names on the Netflix series, bought the six-bedroom house, which was the house they had always dreamed of for your family. The place was in need of repairs, but they never thought the biggest problem with the move would be the neighbors.
The man who harassed “The Watcher’s” family with letters
Three days after buying the house, the Broaddus received the first of four letters from “The Watcher,” warning them that he was the only one “in charge of guarding” their new home, which he had been doing for decades. From that moment on, the next ones became more terrifying, in the second he said that for a long time he “craved young blood”, referring to the children of the family.
In one of them, the stalker said: “There are hundreds and hundreds of cars crossing 657 Boulevard every day. Maybe I’m in one. Look at all the windows that can be seen from 657 Boulevard. Maybe I’m in one. Watch out for all the people passing by the many windows of 657 Boulevard every day. Maybe I am “.
The Broadduses learned that John and Andrea Woods, former owners of the house, had also received the same letters from the man who was interested in what they were doing there and how they got the property. Unfortunately things didn’t end here for the family, and currently the Vigilante remains unidentified by the police, and they don’t even have clear suspicions.
