After the premiere of ‘The Dark Knight’, the second film in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, the actor Heath Ledger, who brought the Joker to life, and who received the Oscar for his incredible performance, lost his life due to an overdose. Now, photographer Alper Yesiltas has brought him back to life to show what the actor would be like if he were alive right now.
Through his Instagram account, the artist shared some portraits of several deceased celebrities, which he recreated as if they were still alive, with the help of artificial intelligence, a technology that allows you to recreate the faces of the actors and actresses, including Elvis Presley, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, among others, as if they were still alive.
The project stems from an interest in knowing how the different stars who lost their lives due to different tragedies, such as Bruce Lee or Paul Walker from ‘Fast and Furious’ would be today. The result is pretty impressive, showing what Heath Ledger would be like if he were still alivewith the age of 42, currently.
Please note that on January 22, 2008, Heath Ledger, star of ‘Dark night’ he lost his life due to an accidental opioid overdose, just months before the end of his portrayal of Nolan’s Joker, and while he was working on his next film, Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
The tragic death of Heat Ledger after “The Dark Knight”
While in his Manhattan apartment, Australian-born Heath Ledger was found dead by his housekeeper. Doctors arrived half an hour after he was found face down and, after several attempts to revive him, Ledger was pronounced dead at 3:36 pm. Conclusions about his cause of death showed that it was “the result of acute intoxication due to the combined effects” of several drugs.
His sudden death influenced the advertising campaign for “The Dark Knight”, as well as the premiere of “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnssus”. Christopher Nolan and Terry Gilliam decided to pay homage to him in their respective films, which would become the last official productions in which what they called the “young promise of Hollywood” had participated.
“The Dark Knight” became a hit and, for many, the best superhero film of all time, largely thanks to Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker, for which he was nominated for the 2008 Oscars, Best Supporting actor, and for which he got posthumously, and which was received by the actor’s family.
