Since last April, when the first trailer for ‘Suzume no Tojimari’, the new anime film by director Makoto Shinkai, was unveiled, and until now there had been no major news. The new trailer for the film has been revealed and with it it is confirmed that it will take place within the same universe in which the plot of “Your Name” takes place.
Unexpectedly, ‘Your name’ became the highest-grossing film in anime history, beating Studio Ghibli’s ‘Spirited Away’. Even for the director, Makoto Shinkai, the success of his anime was so surprising that, for his next film, he chose to continue with the same universe of the story of Taki and Mitsuha, but with completely new characters.
The new trailer for ‘Don’t assume Tojimarishows a small preview and new scenes from the story, such as the appearance of a white cat that has become very popular in Japan, as well as a mysterious young man with long hair and a strange character who is a yellow chair with his own life, which had already been confirmed in the keywords during his first video.
The new preview shows how the “white cat”, the “small chair” and the “young traveler” have to do with the history ofSuzume to Tojimari’, and how they relate ‘Your name’. In this regard, Makoto Shikai said: “I created it with the intention of introducing Suzume, as we witness the wide range of emotions of our 17-year-old female lead, from her humorous reactions to her serious determination.”
Makoto Shinkai returns from “Time with you”
Following the success of “Your Name”, Makoto Shinkai premiered in 2019 “The time with you”, an anime film (available on HBO Max), which did not have the reach that was expected. Now, in 2022, the acclaimed Japanese director returns with his new story about Suzume, a girl who finds strange doors in the middle of some ruins caused by a disaster.
As for the release date, “Suzume no Tojimari” will be released in Japan on November 11, and although there is currently no exact day for its release in Latin America and the rest of the world, Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures have confirmed which will arrive at the beginning of 2023. We will have to wait for its premiere in Japanese cinemas to know its arrival from this side.
CoMix Wave Filmes is the producer of ‘Suzume no Tojimari’, which revealed Nanoko Hara as the voice of protagonist Suzume Iwato. In addition, the soundtrack will once again lead the Radwimps, a group that composed the music for “Your Name” and which was, along with the animation, one of the most lauded aspects of history.
