Christian Bale he is really a great actor, and when he plays a role, he is known to disappear in it. This is exactly what he does with his role in the director David O’Russell’S Amsterdam. This is easily one of the best movie characters Bale has played in his career, and is sure to earn him many nominations for Best Actor awards during awards season.

Well, to help give the best possible performance, Bale had to isolate himself from the co-star Chris Rock because it was just too funny for him and that was affecting his performance. In a recent interview with Indiewire, Bale explained:

“I remember his first day, I was thrilled to meet him, I’m a huge fan of his standup. Then he comes and is doing things. … David [O. Russell] told him to tell me some stories I didn’t know he was going to tell me, which is the way David often works. And I was loving it.

“But Chris is so damn funny and I found I couldn’t act, because I was just becoming Christian laughing at Chris Rock. So I had to go to him, I went ‘man, I like to talk to you and we have mutual friends, but I can’t take it anymore. Because David didn’t ask me to make this movie so he could watch me laugh. He wants me to be Burt, and I’m forgetting how to be Burt. ‘

“I often meet these incredible people, but I isolate myself. Because if I know people too much, I find that I really don’t believe what I’m doing in the scene. “

Each actor has their own way of working and apparently Bale can’t be with people who make him laugh because it takes him out of his mindset. It’s totally understandable, and there’s no hard feelings between the two, Bale just wants to make sure he’s able to deliver the best possible performance in the film, and damn … he definitely got a great performance!
