Among the news that Netflix presented within its TUDUM global event on September 24, it highlighted a video starring the Mexican William of the Bullwhich he exclusively shared with fans part of the process of how his new movie ‘Pinocchio’ was shot.

Through its social networks, the streaming platform Netflix shared a video of less than two minutes in which the Oscar winner explains the challenges related to the production of his new stop-motion version of the classic Pinocchio, focused on both visual processes and special effects. as well as the puppets worked and created by hand in various sizes.

In this short clip Guillermo del Toro describes how he perceives stop-motion animation a true work of art”I really wanted this film to come in a way that had the expressiveness and nature of a hand drawn animation,” explained the author.

All of this shows part of the entire production of “Pinocchio”, and also features the different pieces that were used to produce each of the characters in his next film. The director explained how every part of this new Netflix production was sculpted, painted and sculpted by hand, all aided by digital cinema techniques.

Del Toro also stressed that it was not only the meticulous attention to every detail of the characters and their movements, as he also stated that within the entire creative process the artists behind the set chatted with the characters to give that magical sense that we will see in the film.

During the announcement of Netflix, the Mexican director has not provided precise dates for the release of the film, but has stated that his tour in theaters will begin earlier and in December we will be able to appreciate all the magic of this new film in the Netflix catalog.

On the other hand, the trailer for the movie “Pinocchio” shows us that the plot of the story will revolve around loss, love, desire and the indestructible bond between parents and children. The screenplay is written by Guillermo Del Toro in collaboration with Patrick McHale and will include interpretations of Gregory Mann and Ewan McGregor for the voices of Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket, respectively.
