In Bright Colors star, Tony winner and Emmy nominee David Alan Grier signed to play the beloved character Cogsworth in the next ABC special, Beauty and the Beast: a 30th anniversary. He joins previously announced cast members which include the Oscar winner HIS like Belle, Josh Groban as Beast, and Joshua Henry like Gaston. Rita Moreno he will serve as the show’s narrator in the hybrid live-action / animated production.
The special will be directed by Hamish Hamilton, and will be recorded live and feature never-before-seen musical performances. Jamal Sims is an executive producer and choreographer.
Jon M. Chu is executive producer on the special and said of the project:
“When the animated film came out, I saw it several times in the first weekend. It showed me the outer limits of what animated artists and storytellers could achieve, so the fact that I can become executive producer a tribute to all the creatives who have made this masterpiece through our company Electric Somewhere is a dream I didn’t even think of. was possible. “
The special will premiere December 15 on ABC and stream on Disney + the following day.
