Stardock and Ironclad Games were recently announced Sins of a Solar Empire II! The sequel will blend real-time strategy with 4X gameplay like its predecessor. This allows for massive and engaging space battles and diplomacy. Fans of the first game will recognize it Sins of a Solar Empire II it will explore the war between Vasari, TEC and Advent, but each race will have “unique game mechanics, new and reinvented units, large research trees and refined sub-factions”. The game’s real-time mechanics mean you need to keep track of the orbits of planets and moons, ship positions, and more. Brian Chiara of Stardock said:
We enjoyed fighting with our friends on Ironclad Games, engaging in massive fleet battles during development. The new ways of interacting with each other and the neutral parties have created some amazing “I can’t BELIEVE this just happened!” moments. The collaboration with Ironclad in this long-awaited sequel is paying off.
Sins of a Solar Empire II will use Iron Engine 3 which will bring a number of improvements. These include maintaining beautiful graphics and smooth frame rates even with thousands of units roaming the galaxy. It also aims to solve things like smoother rejoining multiplayer games and improving mods. Chiara shared:
The mod community has been integral to Sins of a Solar Empire’s success and longevity. There’s a new library of in-game mods that we think they’ll be very happy with, along with a host of other new features we’re excited to talk about in the future.
