Hell yes! Keanu Reeves is officially set to star in a Constantine sequel to Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment! This is the best news of the week! Furthermore Francesco Lorenzowho directed the original, will return to direct the sequel!
JJ Abrams is set to produce the film e Akiva Goldsman (A beautiful mind, I am a legend, Star Trek: Strange New Words) is set to write the script.
Deadline reports: “Reeves will resume the role of the exorcist and supernatural demonologist John Constantine who in the original is dying but remains around to save his soul by preventing the demons of hell from breaking into the earth. He is also found between a battle between the archangel Gabriel and Lucifer.
Well, this news from the film makes me happy as hell! I wasn’t expecting that and can’t wait to see how this sequel continues John Constantine’s journey all these years later.
Lawrence previously spoke of a Constantine followed by saying:
“I think we all wanted to do it. It was quite successful. We wanted to make a responsible film, more classified as R. By responsible, I mean we were going to make a film that wouldn’t cost as much as the original, which we thought would be PG-13. We’ve been working on the sequel for a while. We talked about it recently. He’s always stuck with us all because we all love the movie, and most of all we realize there’s a real cult to follow for this movie, it would be fun to do. “
“Keanu and I actually talked about it. Unfortunately, I don’t even remember who has it, but with all these shared universes that exist now, with Constantine being part of Vertigo, which is part of DC, people have plans to these shared universes. You know, maybe Constantine is different and things like that. Right now, we don’t have that character at our disposal for TV or movies, which is a shame. “
“We’ve all investigated this, but I think it’s kind of crazy when you have Keanu, who would like to do another Constantine, and we want to do another Constantine, and people say, ‘Uh, no, we have other plans.’ We’ll see what happens. “
The original film came out in 2005, which is seventeen years ago! It’s crazy that the studio took so long to put their bullshit together and make it happen!
