It’s been five years since the last trailer for The Star Wars-inspirational movies 25-5-77 has been released and 13 years since the project was first announced with a first trailer. After all these years, it looks like this gorgeous looking come-on movie is finally about to come out!
MVD Entertainment shared a new trailer 25-5-77which derives from writer and director Patrick Read Johnson. This film is a love letter to Star Wars as it tells the story of a teenage film fanatic played by John Francis Daley (Freaks and misfits), whose life has changed since Giorgio Lucaclassic science fiction fantasy film. This is an autobiographical film about the director’s personal experience of how Star Wars hit him.
In the film, “The epic true story of alienated and hopeful director Pat Johnson (Daley) of growing up in rural Illinois, falling in love and becoming the first fan of the movie that changed everything: Star Wars. The title of the film derives from the summer of 1977, the release date of the original Star Wars film, which this year marks the 45th anniversary “.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, or rather, in Wadsworth, Illinois, in the early 1970s, Pat, a geek teenager with a big imagination, devoted his spare time and excess energy to inventing ” extremely amateur sequels to the genre cinema of the day. With his backyard and basement replacing a Hollywood studio, he set his Super-8’s eye on his visions of JAWS, PLANET OF THE APES, DUEL and, of course, the catalyst of his crazy creativity, 2001: A SPACE ODYSEY. His best friend Bill doesn’t quite share his raging passion, but he’s perfectly ready to have his arm or heart ripped out in the name of home-made sci-fi cinema, and be Pat’s companion in uncovering the delights and disasters of a middle aged teenager. But such lives, even those in normal Wadsworth, have their dramatic moments. Pat’s arrives on a fortuitous occasion to visit Hollywood and, while there, meet special effects master Douglas Trumbull. Along that path, however, lies a fatal detour … an audience with emerging young director Steven Spielberg, a journey through the bowels of Industrial Light & Magic in his childhood, and an encounter with a certain George Lucas as he maniacally confuses a little space film-opera that would soon shake the foundations of film art and business …
The film is also the protagonist Austin Pendleton, Colleen’s Camp, Neil FlynnAnd Justin Mentell and will debut 25-5-77 in selected American theaters on September 23, 2022, then on VOD starting October 11 this fall.
