Fox is developing a new animated series based on the fantasy novel by Noemi Novik, Her Majesty’s Dragon. The project received a script commitment and is set during “an alternate history version of the Napoleonic Wars, in which dragons not only exist, but are piloted like spaceships and choose their masters”.
The story centers primarily on the events involving the titular dragon Temeraire and his trainer named Will Laurence.
Her Majesty’s Dragons was created by Ben Reginawho created the DC comedy helpless with Vanessa Hudgens. She is writing and executive producing the project. She has also worked for Pixar, writing films such as the two Cars sequel.
This could turn out to be a fantastic animated series if done right. Here is a more detailed description of the story from the book:
