Disney has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the live-action remake of The little Mermaid today at D23! It features some of the beautiful underwater images, including the sunken ship and our first look at Ariel (Halle Bailey), followed by his fish friend, Flounder, who will be voiced by Jacob Trembley.
The rest of the cast includes Daveed Diggs like Sebastiano, Melissa McCarthy like Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Jonah Hauer-King like Prince Eric.
The little Mermaid is directed by Rob Marshall (The Return of Mary Poppins), with a script of David Magee And Jane Goldman. The film is expected to contain original tracks from the 1989 animated blockbuster, as well as new tracks composed by Alan Menken and Diggs Hamilton co-star Lin-Manuel Miranda.
We hear a little bit of Ariel singing “Part of Your World”, and it really turns me on for the whole movie. Take a look below and get ready to watch The little Mermaid in cinemas on May 26, 2023.
