Director Gore Verbinski has developed a new animated film project for Netflix titled Cattywumpus, but the streaming service is abandoning the project. Verbinski is now buying the project around Hollywood in hopes that it will be picked up by another studio or streaming service.
This would be Verbinski’s second animated film, his first being Rankthat was great! Cattywumpus it’s an original concept and not much is known about the story. But it is reportedly set in space and features a cast of cat characters.
Netflix has abandoned the project as the US animation industry is reeling from the layoffs and cancellations of Netflix and HBO Max. Animated projects are long, complex and expensive, and it’s not uncommon for things to go awry in the middle of the day. production.
At least Netflix is allowing them to move the project to another home, which I hope they find. I would love to see another Verbinski animated film!
