Warner Bros. TV is developing Coco Mellors’ romantic novel Cleopatra and Frankenstein in a series with Maggie Kiley (Riverdale, Dirty Giovanni, Doctor Death) set to direct. Mellors is on board to adapt his book for the screen.
“In the book, 24-year-old British painter Cleo escaped from England to New York and is still finding her place in the sleepless city when, a few months before her student visa expires, she meets Frank. Twenty years older and a self-made success, Frank’s life is filled with all the excesses Cleo lacks. He offers her the chance to be happy, the freedom to paint and the opportunity to apply for a green card. But their impulsive marriage irreversibly changes both their lives and the lives of those close to them in ways they could never have foreseen. “
It’s not actually about the queen of Egypt and the big green monster, as the title might lead you to believe, but it sounds like a good story. Cleopatra and Frankenstein it’s early in development, but we’ll keep you updated as it progresses.
