Here’s a great trailer for Netflix’s intense-looking Polish mountaineering thriller Wide peakwhich tells the true story of an ice warrior, Maciej Berbeka, the legendary Polish mountaineer and member of the Ice Warriors group.
In the film, “Maciej Berbeka makes the first winter ascent of Broad Peak in 1988, escaping death by inches. Andrzej Zawada, the expedition leader, announces a great success. Once back in Poland, Maciej is revealed to have reached “only” the rocky peak, which is 23 meters below the actual peak located an hour away. Resentful of the lies of his friends, Berbeka retires from mountaineering. Twenty-four years later, he receives a phone call from Krzysztof Wielicki, who also participated in the first expedition. “We have to finish what we started,” says Krzysztof as he convinces Maciej to join the next Broad Peak expedition. After a long hesitation, Maciej decides to attempt the summit once again.
“When it comes to fighting for honor, the price doesn’t matter. Maciej Berbeka returns to one of the most dangerous mountains in the world, Broad Peak, to rehabilitate his good name. The return to Karakoram involves difficult decisions that will forever change his life and those close to him ”.
The film comes from the director Leszek Dawid, and stars Ireneusz Czop like Maciej, Maja Ostaszewska, Dawid Ogrodnik, Marcin CzarnikAnd Lukasz Simlat. I love watching this kind of movies that test people’s limits! It looks like it would be an intense and grueling challenge!
I love doing this kind of thing for real. I’ve never done anything this crazy, but I love exploring the world and putting myself in awkward and dangerous situations at times. Netflix debuts Wide peak on September 14, 2022.
