Golden Globe-winning actor Christian Slater (Mr. Robot, Doctor Death) joined the cast of the Disney + live-action series adaptation of popular fantasy books the Spiderwick Chronicles. “Slater will play Mulgarath (alter ego Dr. Dorian Brauer), a villain with a capital V who does what all orcs do: he eats people, an insatiable desire to consume. Mulgarath wants the secrets contained in Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide to the Natural World for a nefarious plan that will satisfy his hunger. Deadline reports that they have heard this is a one-season commitment.
Based on the bestselling book series by Tony Di Terlizzi And Black Holly”the Spiderwick Chronicles is a contemporary American gothic coming-of-age story that addresses children and families facing mental health issues among other relevant topics. After leaving New York and moving to Michigan and their dilapidated ancestral home, The Spiderwick Estate, with their mother, twin brothers Jared and Simon Grace, along with their sister Mallory, they find themselves drawn into a fantasy and alternative world.
Kat Coirò he will direct the first two episodes of the series, a modern coming-of-age story combined with fantasy adventure. Slater is a great actor and will be a fantastic addition to the series. the Spiderwick Chronicles is set to Disney + in 2023.
