Jon Hamm is Fletch in the new crime comedy CONFESS, FLETCH

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for the upcoming detective comedy Confess, Fletchwhich gives us a new story about LA Times journalist Irwin M. “Fletch” Fletcher. The character made his film debut in the 1985 comedy Fletch with Chevy Chaseand this was followed by Fletch lives.

Jon Hamm he takes on the role of the character in this new movie, and while I think Hamm is great and it’s fun to see him in the role, it’s not Chevy Chase. Chase was as damn hilarious as Fletch, and Hamm just can’t match that comedic timing and energy. Despite that, I can’t wait to watch the movie. It looks like it will bring some comic entertainment.

Here is the synopsis:

In this delightful comedy, Jon Hamm plays the charming and mischievous Fletch, who becomes the prime suspect in a murder case as he searches for a stolen art collection. The only way to prove his innocence? Find out which of the long list of suspects is the culprit: from the eccentric art dealer and missing playboy to a crazy neighbor and Fletch’s Italian girlfriend. In fact, crime has never been so disorganized.

The film is directed by Greg Mottola (Hikers, Very bad, Adventureland, PaulAnd Keeping up with the Joneses), and Hamm is joined by Marcia Gay Harden, Kyle MacLachlan, Roy Wood Jr., John Slattery, Ayden Mayeri, Lorenza IzzoAnd Annie Mumolo.

Paramount will release Confess, Fletch in some US theaters and on VOD starting September 16, 2022.
