The live-action Sonja Rossa The film adaptation has gone a long way in development. But, after several problems, delays and talent changes, the film has finally started shooting and has a new director and a new star.
Joey Soloway (Transparent) was originally to direct the film with Ant-Man and the wasp‘S Hannah John Kamen set as the protagonist. But now MJ Bassett (Solomon Kane, Silent Hill: Revelation) is directing the film e Matilde Lutz (Vendetta) will play the role of Red Sonja.
I loved Lutz in the movie Vendetta, and I think she’ll be a tough guy playing Red Sonja! The director talked about the project and shared in a statement saying:
“I’ve wanted to make a Red Sonja movie ever since I was a teenager. She was a powerful presence to me and a character that I always wanted to bring to the screen with my voice and my vision. When I met Matilda Lutz, I knew she had all the magic I was looking for and I could see the complexity and depth she would bring to Sonja. “
Well, I hope this creative team really makes it and makes a great Red Sonya movie! Wallis day she also stars in the film and will play Sonja’s “evil stepsister”, Annisia, and Robert Sheehan will play Draygan. The rest of the cast includes Michael Bisping, Martyn Ford, Eliza Matengu, Manal El-Feitury, And Katrina Durden.
No details of the story have been shared, but the inclusion of the character Annisia suggests the film could take a cue from Gai Simone and artist Walter Geovani ‘S. Sonja Rossa comic book operated by Dynamite Entertainment.
