Netflix debuts the first trailer for Tyler Perry’s romantic drama A JAZZMAN’S BLUES

Netflix has released the first trailer of the romantic drama, Blues of a jazz playerwritten, directed and produced by Tyler Perry. Described as Perry’s long-standing passion project, “the costume drama tells the story of forbidden love, starring Joshua Boone And Solea Pfeiffer as Bayou and Leanne, an unfortunate couple who sail the world as black youths in the deep south during the 1940s and beyond.

This film looks very similar to The notebookin its time period, in history and even one of the houses in the trailer looks like that of The notebook. But who will overlook another film that tells a great love story like that? And this offers a whole new perspective, as the characters are trying to succeed in different specters of society in the culture of the black south. Also, Perry reportedly worked on making this film well before Nicholas Sparks’ novel The notebook it has even been written. Perry wrote the script in 1995 after a chance encounter with August Wilson at an after party for one of the legendary playwright’s shows in Atlanta.

The trailer is set on the original song, “Paper Airplanes,” played by Ruth B., who is one of the heavy hitters Perry has enlisted to add sparkle to the musical components of the jazz-era story. The film also features songs arranged and produced by Grammy winner and Oscar nominee Terence Blanchard, music by Aaron Zigman and choreography by legendary Debbie Allen.

To complete the cast of the film there are Amira Vann, Austin Scott, Milauna Jemai Jackson, Brent Antonello, Brad Benedetto, Kario Marcel, Lana YoungAnd Ryan Eggold.

It sounds like an excellent movie, and if you’re into this genre, it looks like you’ll want to tune in. Netflix will be out Blues of a jazz player on September 23. Watch the trailer below:
