Funcom recently attended Gamescom to show their upcoming arrival Dune video game, Duna: Awakening with a first trailer, and it looks pretty cool!
Duna: Awakening is an open world survival MMO and takes place on Arrakis, which will be “shared by thousands of players”. Arrakis will be a seamless world that combines intense survival gameplay mixed with the social aspects of great online games.
The game “combines the grit and creativity of survival games with the social interactivity of persistent large-scale multiplayer games to create a unique and ambitious MMO Open World Survival. Go from survival to domination in a vast, seamless Arrakis shared by thousands of players.

Survive the most dangerous planet in the universe. Build shelters against sandstorms, keep your suit and master the old ways to walk even in the deepest deserts. Avoid or get devoured by the colossal sand worms that dwell beneath the sands.

Explore the ever-changing face of Arrakis. Walk among the ruins of long-forgotten biological testing stations, search among the wrecks of fallen spaceships, and wander the dusty corridors of abandoned sietches. Head to unmapped sectors and be the first to discover secrets and riches before coriolis storms once again displace the sands and alter the landscape.

Check the spice, check Arrakis. Search for spice blossoms and deploy your reaper, then protect it from opportunistic marauders and rival factions. Soak the sand in blood as massive battles move seamlessly from foot to vehicle and from ground to ornithopter in the sky.
