GKids has released a trailer in the US for the upcoming anime adventure film. Farewell, Don Glees!. The series comes from the writer and director Atsuko Ishizuka who previously directed the critically acclaimed series A farther place in the universe. This is Ishizuka’s first feature film and it looks great!
The film is said to have “luminescent animation and lush backgrounds” and is described as “a tender coming-of-age story about the fearlessness of being young and the bittersweet journey of self-discovery.”
In the story, “Misfit teenagers Roma, Toto and Drop call themselves ‘Don Glees’, an informal name for their backyard adventures. One day, when the trio are accused of a nearby forest fire, they go to the woods to prove their innocence. As disaster strikes their expedition, tensions flare up among friends as they realize that growing up has taken them on entirely different paths in life.
The film was already released in Japan earlier this year. GKids will release it for a special event in US theaters on September 14th. 18 and 20.
