A beautiful trailer has been released for the Netflix Original Music Drama, I was famous. The film is the protagonist Ed Skrein (Dead Pool, Alita: Angel of battle) as a former star of a boy band trying to make it alone as a solo musician. While performing as a street musician, she meets a teenager with autism (Long Lion), who starts playing drums to the music they are playing, and they embark on a journey of making music and discovering more about themselves and others than ever.
They are joined in the cast by Lorena Ashbourne, Eleonora Matsuura, Neil Stuke, Jamie Wannell, Stanley MorganAnd Eoin Macken. The film is directed by Eddie Sternberg making his directorial debut in a feature film, from a screenplay he wrote together with Zak Klein.
Here is the complete synopsis:
Vince (Ed Skrein) was part of the sexiest boy band around. He now he is alone and desperate. An impromptu jam with Stevie (Leo Long), an autistic drummer with an incredible gift for rhythm, triggers an unexpected friendship. Together they form a unique bond through the power of music.
It sounds like a really solid story and I love that the autistic character is played by a neurodiverse actor. I have a child with autism and it’s great to see more stories about people on the spectrum. I can’t wait to see this movie when it arrives on Netflix on September 16th. Watch the trailer below.
