The Anne Rice novel on which the mid-90s film Interview with the Vampire was based is getting a new version on AMC. Rolin Jones signs a new serial adaptation that sees Sam Reid as Lestat and Jacob Anderson as Louis. The television drama “Interview with the Vampire” will debut on October 2nd in the aforementioned chain, so we could already see a first advance.

Now Jones wanted to specify a bit what the tone of this adaptation would be, which completes its main cast with Bailey Bass in the role of Claudia and Eric Bogosian in the skin of Daniel Molloy. “I don’t think this is a horror series, I think it is a gothic love story. I wanted to write a very exciting, aggressive, toxic and beautiful love story, and they were willing to do it. “says the director quoted, advancing that too the first season will cover about half of the story embodied in the original work, all thinking about possible future seasons that will explore the rest of the Vampire Chronicles books. However, despite focusing mainly on the opening passages of “Interview with the Vampire”, the series has already turned to other books in the saga to help build that toxic romance. “We will see them trying to overcome all the small obstacles and challenges of a relationship. Like Bogey and Bacall with fangs”.
To these statements offered by Jones during the summer press tour offered by AMC (via Comicbook.com), is added what has already been anticipated by producer Mark Johnson. “What Anne Rice created and what kept her fans mesmerized it forces us to face this adaptation with great responsibility. It is imperative not to disappoint their fans and at the same time we must make sure that this story, these characters, manage to fascinate a modern audience. “.
And then: ‘Mayfair Witches’
This fall we will see ‘Interview with the Vampire’ but this is not the only adaptation of the novels by Anne Rice that AMC is preparing. “Mayfair Witches” is also coming for 2023 and it also comes from Johnson’s hand which has provided some clues as to how both series might be related. Both fictions are set in the same universe, so there will be winks “some of them funnysome thinner and others that are almost straight like Easter eggs. “
“‘Mayfair Witches’ is largely her own project and series. It’s obviously connected to the Anne Rice universe in terms of theme and style, so it’s part of that world, but I’d say there’s very little in common. between ‘Interview’ and ‘Mayfair Witches’ “. This Spalding, showrunner of this fiction, adds that “Mayfair Witches” is inspired by the first book of the trilogy ‘The Lives of the Mayfair Witches’.
