Watching The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring it was easily one of the greatest moving experiences of my life. I was simply amazed from start to finish and my experience watching the other two films in the trilogy was just as incredible.
Director Peter Jackson never had the opportunity to enjoy those films in the same way we did as a fan and audience member. He was just too busy developing the films and, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he talked about how envious he was of other viewers. In fact, he says that he actually considered undergoing hypnotherapy to make him forget he made the movies so that he could have the same experience of watching the trilogy that we all have. He said:
“When we made the Lord of the Rings movies, I always felt that I was the unfortunate person who never got to see it as an out of the ordinary movie. When the screenings were there, I was in it for five or six years . It was such a loss for me not to be able to see them like everyone else. I actually seriously considered going to a hypnotherapy dude to hypnotize myself to make me forget the movies and the work I had done. for the past six or seven years so I can sit back and enjoy them. I haven’t followed it all the way, but I talked to them [British mentalist] Derren Brown on this and thought he could do it. “
I fully understand why he would have considered doing it, but in the end he made the right decision. The guy created three of the best movies ever made and while I’m sure there are stressful memories of that experience, there were also great and amazing memories. The real question is: Could a hypnotist really make someone forget all of this !?
Fortunately for Jackson, Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The rings of power the series will be out soon and you can enjoy it with the rest of us!
Although Jackson claimed that Amazon Studios asked him to be involved in the project, even though they ultimately never sent him any script.
The Lord of the Rings: The rings of power will debut on Prime Video on September 2nd.
