It is very likely that this news will not benefit Batgirl fans. As reported by Variety, HBO has begun developing “The Franchise”, a comedy that will focus on shooting a superhero movie. Something that Warner Bros. Discovery, the company to which HBO and the DC universe belong, knows a lot.

At the moment the cable network has only asked for a half hour pilot to see if there is a potential hit streak behind them, but at the moment they are aiming high because that pilot will be directed by Sam Mendes (“1917”), who came up with the idea for the series. He will be joined by Armando Iannucci, creator of the Emmy award-winning comedy “Veep,” which parodied American politics. The pilot was written by Jon Brown and Keith Akushie, both former collaborators of Iannucci.
Dream factory or chemical plant?
While we still don’t know what exactly “The Franchise” will say, Variety describes the project as a comedy of half-hour episodes that “It follows a hopeful crew trapped in the dysfunctional, useless and hilarious hell that is the set of a superhero movie.. If or when they can get it over with, the question they face is: is this Hollywood a new dawn or the last fight? Is it a dream factory or a chemical plant?
Without a doubt, there will be no lack of inspiration with the story that the DC universe has latelybetween all the soap operas of ‘Justice League’ and the Snyder Cut, the cancellation of the premiere of ‘Batgirl’, the non-cancellation of the premiere of ‘The Flash’ … ‘The Franchise’, yes, it is not related with DC in any way (of which we are aware).
