Leonardo Dicaprio And Martin Scorsese are collaborating again on a film adaptation of David Grann’s non-fiction book, The Bet: A Story of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder. The film project is staged at Apple Original Films, which produced Scorsese’s next film, The killers of the flower moon.
Scorcese will direct The bet and DiCaprio will be the protagonist. The story is set in 1740, the film “is set in motion when a patched boat with 30 emaciated men landed on the coast of Brazil. The men were the surviving crew of a British ship that was chasing a Spanish ship and crashed on an island in the Patagonian region of South America. Their tales of survival of the seas and the elements have made them heroes. “
It is explained that “six months later another ship, even more battered than the first, ended up on the coat of arms of Chile, this one with three men. These new sailors accused that the other men were actually mutineers. As the allegations and counter-allegations flew by, the British Admiralty launched a special process to uncover the truth about exactly what happened on the island, unraveling a story not just of a captain and crew struggling to survive while fighting some of the most extreme elements of the planet, but also fighting their own human nature ”.
It looks like it’s going to be a truly incredible movie, especially with Scorsese and DiCaprio sticking together to bring the story to life. These two talents make great movies together!
