Electronic Arts is working with Marvel on the development of a new open world Black Panther video game. The news comes from Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb, who reports that the game will not feature the character T’Challa in the Vibranium suit. Instead, a new character will dress up and protect Wakanda after the previous Black Panther’s death.
It is unknown who that Black Panther character will be, but I assume it will be whoever ends up as the new Black Panther in the movie, Black Panther: Wakanda forever. That information was not shared in the trailer.
EA’s new Seattle-based game studio is working on the project, led by Kevin Stephens, who previously worked on Middle-earth: Shadow of War. This will be a single player focused game that is looking to capitalize on the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
There isn’t much information to share right now, but the game is in early development, so don’t expect to play it anytime soon. It will take a few years.
