The trailer for ‘The Idol ‘revealed that BLACKPINK’s Jennie would be part of their cast and later, HBO announced that, in fact, the K-pop singer was one of the participating actresses in this new drama series directed by the creator of ‘Euphoria’, which the streaming platform is about to release.

Until now, Jennie had only devoted herself to modeling and K-pop, her only performance being summed up in the dramatization she did in BLACKPINK videos or her solo videos, as well as other Korean industry musicians. However, she had never been formally engaged in any film or television project to play any characters.

Sam Levison’s next HBO series, ‘The Idol ‘, would be Jennie’s acting debut; a project that, moreover, has been cataloged as the first American exhibition in which a Korean artist participates. Although, at the moment, there are very few details about the character the singer would play in this dramatic story.

For “The Idol” trailers that have been revealed, Jennie would play a dancer who is part of the artistic team of a singer (Lily-Rose Depp) who shines in the Hollywood industry; although there are those who point out that she could give life to another music artist in the sector. For now, nothing is confirmed and we will have to wait for further progress to discover her true role in this series.

The story of ‘The idol created by Sam Levinsonhas the director’s mark for having a lot of ‘Euphoria’ style vibes, albeit with a more adult-oriented outlook on how it displays Hollywood adrenaline, excesses and relationships.

‘The Idol’ is about the relationship between an emerging pop singer (Lily Rose-Depp) and an industry “guru” trying to help famous people in this world (The Weeknd). However, in addition to creating a supportive bond, the two develop a strange bond marked by the context of euphoria that surrounds them.

There is currently no confirmed release date from HBO, but it is speculated that it may be released in late 2022 or early 2023.
