The controversy between Warner Bros. and director Zack Snyder seems to never end. The relationship, which does not appear to have improved between the two sides, could further deteriorate after being made public. Warner reports that the campaign in support of ‘Justice League’ Snyder Cut was promoted by fake accounts.

The director of “300” was initially chosen to take care of the DC superhero movie. However, a family tragedy took Snyder away from “Justice League” and Warner ended up hiring Joss Whedon to direct the filming of the film. From that moment and after the premiere of the film, a huge social media support campaign was generated using the hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut and later #RestoreTheSnyderVerse to allow Snyder to finish his version of the film and the DC universe in general. This campaign was also supported by Snyder himself and went so viral that it ended up causing “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” to end up being released by Warner on March 18, 2021 via HBO Max.
What we have been able to know now, thanks to the aforementioned reports requested by Warner and collected by Rolling Stone, is that this campaign had at least 13% of fake accounts behind it.. Much higher than 3-5% of bots and fake accounts calculated by the experts who usually stand behind any trending topic. In turn, the company Alethea Group discovered that the domain creator of the famous hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut was recorded in its day by a person who was dedicated to selling followers and visits on social networks. This, in a sense, confirms the suspicion that some people belonging to the film’s production had about the transparency and truth behind the well-known support movement. Which does not question the large number of existing fans who support Snyder’s films. But Rolling Stone says most of the people linked to the “Justice League” project they interviewed for the report (more than 20) believe that Snyder himself manipulated the fan movement. “like a Lex Luthor creating chaos”. The director denies and claims that in any case it was Warner Bros. who manipulated the campaign to attract HBO Max subscribers. even death threats, forcing the studio to take additional security measures.
Suspicions at the 2022 Oscars
This information comes out only a month after we found out the two new audience awards, released this year during the 2022 Oscars and both won by Snyder, could also have been rigged by their fans. A tool for tracking hashtags on Twitter determined that the most active users in voting were actually bots that created thousands of votes, which ended up winning Snyder in both categories.
