HBO recently announced the premiere of ‘The Idol ‘, a new drama series from the creator of’ Euphoria’with a touch of suspense starring The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp with a story in the middle of the music industry. BLACKPINK’s Jennie will be one of those joining the project and it is estimated that she will be a recurring character throughout the series.
Originally, “The Idol” was announced in 2021 directed by Sam Levin and Reza Fahim and shortly thereafter it was announced that theThe series will star The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp, the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis. Later, it was revealed that Debby Ryan, Steve Zissis, and Troye Sivan would join the main cast.
After a year of being announced with its entire team behind and in front of the cameras, HBO revealed the first preview of “The Idol” and with it, several surprising cameos have been seen in its history. Among these was that of Jennie, the singer and leader of the popular K-pop group, BLACKPINK.
Without notice, BLACKPINK’s Jennie appeared in various scenes in the first trailer for “The Idol”.’and with him it was confirmed that the singer would give birth to a recurring character in the story as information from IMBD reveals that the K-pop artist would appear in all episodes of the production. Furthermore, HBO officially confirmed it from its social networks after the reveal of the trailer.
Although it is not known for sure what kind of character she will play in the series, it is speculated that she may be that of a dancer, because in the scenes that appeared in the trailer she was seen in choreography and rehearsals with more people than she even appeared to dance professionally.

Jennie Kim has been in the South Korean entertainment industry for more than ten years and has since proven her acting skills, appearing in various music videos for her company, YG Entertainment; she would later continue her special collaborations in her solo videos as well as those of her group, BLACKPINK.
However, she has never been a part of any television or film production where beyond her K-pop celebrity personality, she was really just an actress. “The Idol” is the first work she performs in this way and she can be seen for the first time as an actress when the series premieres in late 2022 or early 2023.
