SEGA announces that Genesis Mini 2 will arrive in North America in October

SEGA recently announced that Genesis Mini 2 will be released in North America on the same day in Japan. Acquainted with the Genesis Mini 2 (aka Master Drive Mini 2) a few weeks ago but there was no information on a US version.

This means that SEGA fans will be able to enjoy over 50 classic Genesis games and, as a bonus, SEGA CD titles will be included in the tally of over 50 titles. Another improvement over 2019’s Genesis Mini is that it will come with a 6-button controller. If you prefer the 3-button version, the controllers for the first Genesis Mini will be compatible with the Genesis Mini 2. I’ve included a list of games below that have been revealed at the time of writing below, but for the most up-to-date information, go to to the official website.

The Genesis Mini 2 will be released on October 27 and will be available exclusively through Amazon, which is currently priced at $ 103.80 + $ 21.99 shipping. Seems a little crazy from a price point of view. Honestly, I think this should have been just a DLC software update for the original with the 6-button controller as a new peripheral for purchase.
