A new full trailer and poster have been released for the embarrassing comedy I love my dadbased on a true story of a writer and director Giacomo Morosiniacting in the film together with the comedian Patton Oswalt (The king of queens). This father / son cat fishing story premiered at SXSW Film Festival 2022 earlier this year, where it won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award.

Here is the complete synopsis:

Inspired by James Morosini’s true life experience, I Love My Dad follows Chuck (Oswalt), a separated father who desperately wants to reconnect with his troubled son, Franklin (Morosini). Stuck on social media and worried about his son’s life, Chuck impersonates an online waitress and starts checking in with Franklin. Things start to fall apart when Franklin falls in love with this fictional girl (Sulewski) and wants nothing more than to meet her in person, as Chuck has inadvertently caught her child.

This trailer really takes it one step further! But it sounds so hilarious, and knowing it actually happened to the guy you’re watching it happen to is even more recognizable and touching.
