In recent years, many fans have campaigned for Taron Egerton (The king) to play Wolverine in the MCU. Well, he confirmed in a recent interview that he was in talks with Kevin Feige and other Marvel Studio executives to take on the role of Wolverine.
In an interview with the New York Times, Egerton said, “I don’t think it would be wrong to say that. I would be excited, but I would also be worried, because Hugh is so associated with the role that I wonder if it would be very difficult for someone else to do it. But hopefully, if that happens, they’ll give me a chance. “
Personally, I don’t like Egerton for the role of Wolverine, I don’t think he would make it. I agree with Deadpool 3 screenwriter Rhett Reesewho stated that the character should be played by an unknown person:
“Honestly I would go more … an unknown person, because Hugh Jackman was reasonably unknown the first time around and I think there was an initial setback [of], ‘Oh, he’s too tall’ or, ‘He doesn’t look good’ or, ‘What is this Australian thing?’ I think if they’re playing their cards right, they probably should do some we’ve never seen. “
Getting a stranger to take on the role makes a lot more sense to me, but I don’t think Disney will. They will want to pick a familiar actor, someone they think will appeal to the audience. What they don’t understand is that Wolverine is the main attraction, that character that will attract the audience, and they just have to choose the right actor to play the role.
