Amber Heard’s lawyers ask to leave the wrongdoing trial with a juror

According to The Guardian, the “Aquaman” actress’s attorneys suspect the 15th member lied about her age, having been born in 1945 but that “he was clearly born after 1945. Publicly available information shows that he appears to have been born in 1970” it reads in the document. That is why they wonder if that person was really called to participate in the process and if they went through all the procedures to make sure they could act as an impartial agent. at the time of issuing the verdict together with the rest of the members selected to form the jury.

Non-evidence based verdict

Among the complaints gleaned from the document, they once again highlight that the verdict is not based on evidence, that it is false that Johnny Depp lost the role of Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Caribbean” due to his opinion piece in the Washington Post. which was the basis of the defamation lawsuit filed by the actor against his ex-wife, and that Johnny Depp did not show malice because “did not present any evidence to indicate that Miss Heard did not believe she was attacked”. They also say that the $ 10 million they are asking for is “excessive” considering that the verdict indicated that both parties involved had committed defamation. (Depp was sentenced to pay $ 2 million for his attorney’s statement to the Daily Mail in 2020 accusing Heard of ambushing his client.) Again they indicate that Amber Heard doesn’t have enough money to pay the 8, 35 million dollars.

Judge Penny Azcarate responded to Amber Heard’s team saying they will not be opening new instances of this case and that they should take the usual courses if they want to appeal, including paying the deposit. Johnny Depp’s team reacted by saying this motion was “what they expected, only longer, but not with more substance”.
