To celebrate 40 years of attempts to counter the demonic cults and nefarious plans of the ancient gods, a revised and updated print of the Call of Cthulhu the starter set will be available on June 27. If you’ve wanted to get into the game but didn’t know where to start, this will be a great buy for you. Inside are books, dice, pre-made character sheets, maps and handouts you need for hours of chilling fun, all inside a box with new designs from Lin Hsiang.
The books include three softcover manuals divided into rules and scenarios. Each book will have the interior cover design updated and all errata and fixes which make it a good starting point for players brand new to the game and for veterans with older books who are looking to have all the updates in. one place.
There are 4 different scenarios. One is a solo scenario to help you learn the game. “Alone Against the Flames” will have you playing in a rural New England town of Emberhead that is desperate to escape. The other three scenarios are for 3-5 players and include:

Paper Chase: The search for a missing professor leads to a grizzly discovery.

Edge of Darkness: A group of investigators fulfill the wish of a dying friend and try to undo the mistakes of the past.

Dead Man Stomp: Harlem and jazz music are the backdrop to the nefarious patterns of an alien god.
Each of these scenarios will be complete with maps, notes and handouts for the players, all in color and essential for the players. Also included are all the dice needed to play: D4, D6, D8, D20, percentile D10 and an extra D10 of a different color to use as a bonus / penalty die.
I recently performed a shot of Call of Cthulhu and it was great. This box set is definitely something I am looking forward to to make it easier for me to navigate the rules and scenarios in which to run for my group.
