The end of Lucasfilm’s Obi-Wan Kenobi the series featured a major cameo with the return of Liam Neeson how Qui-Gon Jinn in Force Ghost mode. While it was nice to see Neeson in the role again after all these years, I thought he was just thrown in to indulge the fans. Kenobi seeing Qui-Gon again should have happened first in another context that would have made more sense and would actually add value to the story.
Regardless of what I think, a lot Star Wars the fans loved the moment and were happy to have been indulged. Neeson recently spoke to THR and broke the silence by returning to the role in the series by saying:
“I certainly didn’t want anyone else to play Qui-Gon Jinn, and I wanted to show my respect for George [Lucas] and that mythical world he created. Also, Ewan [McGregor] he’s a friend and I loved working with him on The Phantom Menace 25 years ago. “
I love that Neeson is ready and eager to play Lucasfilm and keep having some fun Star Wars franchising. Qui-Gon was actually one of the first Jedi of his time to use the power of the Force to transcend death and become a Force ghost.
