Last week, the first teaser trailer for Disney’s new animated film was released Strange world, which looks incredibly beautiful! The film is inspired by 1950s retro sci-fi B movies and pulp sci-fi adventure stories.
Jake Gyllenhaal he is acting in the film and now we have learned that he has joined him Dennis Quaid, Lucia Liu, Gabriele UnioneAnd Jaboukie Young-White. That’s a pretty impressive vocal cast!
The film is directed by Great Hero 6 helmsman Don Halland follows “three generations of the Clade family, legendary explorers, arriving in a dazzling land filled with mysterious phenomena: schools of flying fish, walking pillars of rock and octopus-looking monsters, a recent trailer suggests.”
Gyllenhaal plays the researcher Clade, “the son of a resolute explorer. The original action-adventure travels into the depths of an unexplored and treacherous land where fantastic creatures await the legendary Clades, a family of explorers whose differences threaten to overthrow their last and far more crucial mission.
Quid plays grandfather Jaeger Clade; Young-White voices his nephew, Ethan; Union voices Meridian, who is married to her son Searcher; and Liu is Callisto Mal, head of Avalonia, the magical setting of the film.
It is explained that the film is also inspired by the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs And Giulio Verneand “the tale of the throwback will welcome faithful companions and bizarre new creations, with non-talking characters such as the family’s three-legged dog, Legend, and the jelly-like blue blob Splat, a strange creature from a strange new world.”
Disney recently screened three scenes from the film, and we have a description of those scenes thanks to Variety:
In the first, Ethan flirts with heartthrob Diazo while school friends watch, teasing him in a friendly and warm way. Much to Ethan’s chagrin, his father Searcher soon joins, embarrassing his son with a display of excessive acceptance.
The second sequence unveiled in Annecy was an action scene. As the whole family explores a cave from inside a lime green plane, they are soon attacked by fuchsia flying creatures that look like origami stingrays.
The attack ends with the family separated, Searcher and his dog fall off the plane and land in a strange new world, while Ethan and mom guide the ship to safety.
In the third sequence, Searcher and the dog explore their new environment, the phosphorescent landscape that looks like a coral painted in bright pink.
Upon encountering Splat, they must fend off a Cthulhu-looking beast and are finally rescued by an old bearded hunter. When the veteran of this difficult terrain finally takes off his hood, the look of him is a shock. “Pope?!!” exclaims the researcher.
