It was the end of March 2022 when it was reported that Ezra Miller was arrested in Hawaii for disturbing the peace; Not many days passed when it was again reported that the authorities of the same country had arrested the actor again, this time for threatening to kill a couple; and shortly thereafter he too was arrested again for second degree assault.

Three serious crimes for which he was arrested and to which are added several charges made in recent weeks such as possession of weapons and currently being a fugitive from justice in Hawaii after being accused by the parents of a minor who beat and offered drugs.

Despite all the serious scenario in which he finds himself, the protagonist of ‘The Flash’ has not been seen under public control as has happened to other film artists who have been completely harassed by situations that are not comparable to those of the actor too. of ‘Fantastic Beasts’.

As is the case with Will Smith, who after slapping Chris Rock it has seen the hiatus and “cancellation” of various projects, criticism from the public and the corporation, and even its veto on the Academy. Meanwhile, with stronger crimes on their shoulders, no one has talked about the protagonist of ‘We need to talk about Kevin’, only a few months have been published and one or the other tweet has pointed out the situation.

What about the other charges?

The whole situation aims at one thing: how the racist system works in these kinds of situations, where actors like Will Smith have been severely convicted for minor actors and other industry figures like Ezra Miller, Harvey Weinstein, Roman Polanski and many more , haven’t they dealt with public and trade union scrutiny at this level?

It would be ideal that in this moment, film groups or spaces as large as the Oscars, also take a stand on these actors, directors and producers who have also come to have the spotlight for their work; but which, curiously, have not been the subject of accusations in the way they did with Will Smith after the 2022 Oscars to the point of asking for a public apology like the actor of ‘The Men in Black’ did.

It is time for the film and television industry to begin to be consistent with the values ​​it professes and with the products that end up bringing to the big and small screen; showing that, in any case, they will indicate when someone in their circle commits serious and troubling crimes like Ezra Miller did in this case.
