Barcelona is once again the capital of cinema on the big screen with the celebration of CineEurope, the convention of exhibitors in which the state of the sector is assessed and distributors show the next releases that will arrive in their theaters. Before the pandemic, it was always common for the hottest celebrities of the moment to visit, but in times of coronavirus, almost all appearances were in the form of a video-recorded message.
But Tom Cruise is more than short distances. The actor, who already made a surprise appearance at last year’s CineEurope, held in October, returned to Barcelona to thank the cinemas: “I just came here to say thank you for everything … I know what it takes to do what you do … Thank you for letting me have the career I had”. The actor also took the opportunity to cast some optimism in an industry so affected by the pandemic: “I see a bright future for all of us” Cruise stated and signed on saying: “The opening of the theaters means a lot to me. Happy summer, I think we will have a lot of fun.”.

No less than $ 901.9 million has raised ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ around the world, and it is expected that in about two weeks it will be able to break through the billion-dollar barrier and become the highest-grossing film of the year.
